Last weekend was indeed a special one. It was a weekend of Deepawali (Festival of Lights & Hope), World Kindness Day, Children’s Day in India all coming together.
As we leave Deepawali, Children’s Day behind along with World Kindness Day, and move towards the rest of this challenging year, let us take a pause to ask ourselves are we “in sync” with ourselves or not ? I consider people reading this post on this platform are just lucky & fortunate enough that they are born in families, exactly similar to me, where we have managed to receive proper nutrition, education, healthcare and hence today we are reaching skies.
God is very kind until now and I sincerely pray that these blessings keep on coming on each one of us, year after year and light our lives with joy, peace, wealth & happiness. We have and started our own nucleus families and we always hope for a richer and better life for our kids, from where we have started.
Time to really think – If I want to celebrate Diwali with sweets, new dresses, lamps with my 20 months old ? why cannot a 20 month kid from slum dream of that ? How much time it takes to get a blow from mother nature and make our entire life upside down ? Can we not adopt a poor kid by sponsoring his/her education by giving him books, 2 nutritious meal until s(h)e can run on his own like us ? What good waste of life it makes, if we keep on running for name, fame, money and talk about leadership on forums, but we cannot feel the pain of those who are in need and gives a helping hand. From childhood, and until today, my eyes get teary when I poor kids on streets, and they are poor for no fault of them ? I keep on asking Why Them ? How much money we need to survive?
Again poverty is a social condition that is characterized by the lack of resources necessary for basic survival or necessary to meet a certain minimum level of living standards expected for the place where one lives. People in poverty typically experience persistent hunger or starvation, inadequate or absent education and health care, and are usually alienated from mainstream society. Poverty is a consequence of the uneven distribution of material resources and wealth on a global scale and within nations because of warfare, backward agriculture, natural disasters, centralization of power, environmental degradation and above all discrimination and social inequality. I am sure we cannot control all of these but what we can control is our sense of “belonging”. Why we cannot “Think Beyond Self” and “hold a hand” to change the world for better.
abillionhopes led by Anil Kumar Yadav and its members is one such platform, who have started thinking 5 years back and now came up with a platform of “Bonding of Love” for connecting philanthropists to those poor families.
Nothing is stopping me to lend my helping hand..What is stopping you ? Time to think beyond. I am thinking – ARE YOU ??
